The trap that you have set for yourself is thinking that if W loses in November that all the evils of government will evaporate as soon as Kerry is sworn in.

Under what other American administration were thousands of people imprisoned, sexually and physically abused, denied basic human rights, denied access by a lawyer or family members, and put into solitary confinement for months - all without even being charged with a serious crime. Once we called it the Spanish Inquistion. Now we just call it the George Jr administration.
The NY Times article is but an example of outright disregard for American principles because the George Jr administration condones even fundamental violations of American law. No other president - not even Nixon - did what the George Jr admininstration condoned. We can now suspect it even encouraged Guantanamo, Brooklyn House of Detention, Passaic County Prision in Paterson, and Abu Ghraib. This is not about a dislike for a person. This is about the perverted principles of this man and his extremist administration. So perverted that thousands of people - including this so very innocent immigrant worker - would be treated as if Saddam Hussien was in power.
Those are facts. What is the common factor among Abu Ghraib, Brooklyn House of Detention, Guantanamo, and the Passaic County jail? The George Jr administration.
This is the same president who had PDBs on his desk warning of the WTC attack - and he did nothing! "It was not actionable"? What were they waiting for; an invitation from bin Laden?
Same man and same mentality that all but got us into a shooting war with China over a silly spy plane. Same man who undermined the Oslo Accords - as was predicted. Same man who stifled prosecution of corrupt corporate executives in Enron, MCI Worldcom, the mythical CA energy crisis, etc because prosecution would somehow contribute to a recession. Same man who all but ordered the military to not get Ossama bin Laden. Same man whose solution to excessive energy consumption is to encourage more consumption; to stifle innovation. Same man who never ran a successful corporation but profited handsomely. Same man whose solution to badly managed airlines with grossly overpaid management was to give them $billions - without any strings attached. Same man who stifles basic science such as stem cell research only to promote his personal religious beliefs. Same man who took apart a working effort to bring N Korea and Iran back into the world of responsible nations by simply declaring everything in black and white; good and evil. Same man who spends $billions on an anti-ballistic missile system so that bin Laden, et al cannot launch intercontinental missiles at us (even thought the experts working on the project say the system does not work). Same man who protected the anti-American steel manufacturing industry at the expense of productive American industries such as the steel reprocessors (who lost somewhere between 20,000 and 40,000 jobs so that George Jr could get his campaign contributions). Same man who changed the rules so that Israel can use American weapons to murder Palestinian civilians (Reagan was especially adament that Israel not be permitted to do this). Same man who took $450,000 in campaign contributions so the First Energy could keep running a nuclear reactor with both a potential Three Mile Island problem AND a hole in the containment vessel (Davis Besse). Same man whose administration would out a CIA agent - a treason offense - only to take revenge on one who exposed presidential lying. Same man who made it dangerous for Americans now to travel overseas - a drop in American popularity from 70% to 15%. Same man who (with French cooperation) so undermined the Doha round of WTO (for free trade) that the Cancún meeting broke up, with anger, before the conference could even get started. Same man undermines basic human rights and perverts rule of law in this country for his own dictatorial agenda. Same man who campaigned as a compassionate conservative and yet even made Purna Raj Bajracharya of Katmandu, Nepal just another sad story.
We have maybe 600 prisoner in Guantanamo. At best, maybe 14 or 24 may be a threat to America. No problem. As occured in France somewhere around the 14th Century. The general was asked how to tell the good Catholics from the bad ones. He said, "Kill them all. God will know his own." Imprison them all. God will see to it that the evil are punished and sexually abused by the guards. This is what happens when extremist religious beliefs - everything viewed in terms of good and evil - are more important than basic American principles.
Do I think the problems of government will immediately disappear with Kerry? Of course not. I have never been a fan of government dominated by two parties without term limits. Every president creates governmental problems. However we have never had a president so bad, so corrupt, and so self serving as George Jr. Only previous president who could complete for title as worst post WWII president is Richard Nixon.
You were not around when Margoli M Mezinsky changed her vote for Clinton after receiving political favors. Back then, I too was not very happy with Clinton. But I have never expressed so much contempt for any domestic politician (and only for the dichead) as I have for this president. Why? We never had a president who does bad things to America month after month for every month. Purna Raj Bajracharya is only another victim of George Jr, his compassionate conservative beliefs, and his extremist administration.
