Oh shit...

I wonder if his green card will be revoked...he's lived in the States since the mid-90s.

These are the lyrics to track 1 on his new CD...the song is called "America Is Not the World."

He was absolutely correct and I applaud him. I'd happy execute Bush myself if he were tried and convicted of the treason he is guilty of.

DanaC 06-12-2004 05:26 AM

His new album is superb. I am so pleased. I used to be a big morrisey fan years ago before he went Stateside. The Smith's early albums were the soundtrack to my Teenage years.....I loved them, they spoke to me of my Town and my life in Rain soaked Manchester...."This humdrum town" The places he sang about were the places where my mother grew up.

I was so glad when he returned to the scene and was still damned good. Theres a really nice song on their called "First of the Gang to Die" in which you can really hear the Mancunian in him *smiles* When the first of the gang to get a gun, is also the first of the gang to die he is "The first lost lad to go under the sod" Thats such a manc way to phrase it, to call him a lost lad

I think they'll pick up Steve Earle first, everybody else can make for the borders when that happens.

Steve Identifying with John Walker Lind:

John Walker's Blues
(Steve Earle)

I'm just an American boy raised on MTV
And I've seen all those kids in the soda pop ads
But none of 'em looked like me
So I started lookin' around for a light out of the dim
And the first thing I heard that made sense was the word
Of Mohammed, peace be upon him

chorus:
A shadu la ilaha illa Allah
There is no God but God

If my daddy could see me now – chains around my feet
He don't understand that sometimes a man
Has got to fight for what he believes
And I believe God is great, all praise due to him
And if I should die, I'll rise up to the sky
Just like Jesus, peace be upon him

chorus

We came to fight the Jihad and our hearts were pure and strong
As death filled the air, we all offered up prayers
And prepared for our martyrdom
But Allah had some other plan, some secret not revealed
Now they're draggin' me back with my head in a sack
To the land of the infidel

A shadu la ilaha illa Allah
A shadu la ilaha illa Allah

You Are the Quarry debuted here at #11, which has to be the highest chart position ever for him. It's gotten rave reviews, and "Irish Blood, English Heart" is apparently getting good airplay here. Not bad for a guy who hasn't put a CD out in 7 years, and hasn't had major airplay since 1994.

It's not my favorite Moz CD, but it's still great.

Go, Morissey, you little sexy thing, you.

Can't argue with his politics, either. I see is thusly: Reagan, at least, was already immobilized, for lack of a better word. Bush is still actively perpetrating actrocities all over the world for money and sport. Although I don't advocate killing anyone, if a higher up was eradicating insane presidential types, we'd all be better served if the more able-bodied went first.

I've never even heard of this guy, but the when the first thing you hear about is him identifying with a guy who took up arms against his fellow citizens because he felt put upon and wasn't happy with the local invisible guy in the sky you have to wonder.

Morissey was with the British band The Smiths, most popular in the 80's, which you may be more familiar with. He/they have an almost cultlike following nearly worldwide. Known for his desperately sad, almost suicidal lyrics, and he does not just pick on American politics or policies. He's an equal opportunity complainer.

In all honesty, while I do not believe in killing anybody, I do think it would have been better for the world if George Jr. came down with a bad case of West Nile Virus and was carried off in Reagan's place. Speaking of song lyrics, here's some to show you that nothing has changed one damn bit. Sometimes I wonder why we even bother to try:

Artist: Buffalo Springfield
Song: For What It's Worth

There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away
We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound

Happy Monkey 07-07-2004 04:57 PM

So Hastert's your man?

edit: here's the succession.

marichiko 07-07-2004 07:13 PM

OK, already. West Nile wipes out the entire Bush administration. Better? :p

So we are four men away from having the first black president of the US, who is probably more qualified for the job than any of the four.
