Plastic Forks foo
This is a place where those who intend to attend PF this year can collaborate on the food and drinks.
As I stated in another thread, I intend to bring the potato salad this year. I may also bring something else as yet to be determined to round out the usual hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, rolls and salads. Something different. I will troll my recipe collection to find something unusual and tasty to bring. Idears are welcome as well. What category should it be? Dinner? Snack food? Dessert? Oh yeah, Moose Milk. I can make this too, given a few fifths of rum. Trust me, it's tasty and strong. I had an introduction to this concoction in Colombia from the Canadian Navy. It was filling, cold and sweet. And I had a decided list to port by the time I walked back to my ship. Brian |
if I can talk jinx into making her guacamole, you're in for a treat
|
I'll do what I did last year and bring a load of Entemann's cakes and pastries, and stuff for the BBQ. I'm thinking chicken drumsticks, marinated overnight in a variety of sauces.
For non-food items, I'll bring the port-a-grill, a harmonica, and bodhran. I'll bring my own chairs. My big suggestion is ice, lots of ice, ice, baby. |
Bob usually gets that along with the beer, but extra ice is always appreciated.
We can always use it to chill the pool if it gets too hot. |
Is there even gonna be a pool this year?
You know, I think you're telling some tall tales about Forks. That, or you're all getting old and aren't as crazy as you used to be. |
We're getting old. You're the infusion of new blood that restores us to life. You'll feel a strange weakness Sunday Morning, but you'll attribute it to your hangover.
Bob didn't blow up the pool last year because it was FUCKING COLD. As opposed to the year before when he didn't blow it up because he coulding find the fucking fill caps that he had carefully put away the year before. |
It wasn't THAT cold, though the weather could have been better.

The water is coming straight out of the aquifer.
The temperature of the water from the hose is about 65°F. We have filled the pool on the day of forks and it didn't get warm enough to use. We used it anyway. It was fucking freezing. It is actually necessary to set up and fill the pool the day prior to forks and let solar radiation work it's magic on the water temperature. Life was much better before Bob's brother-in-law (who has an inground pool a bit further down the driveway from the Forks House) retired and realized that his golden parachute made it possible for him to actually have something to lose if he were sued by a naked drunk who got injured in his pool. That's why we got the wading pool in the first place. |
