Not so current, but an event, nonetheless.

Making the email rounds right now is a copy of the Daniel Pearl Confession and Decapitation.

The confession appears to be the traditional statement prepared by the captors and read by the victim.

I do NOT want to see this. Normally I think people should see the good with the ugly so they don't end up sheltered and stupid, but not in this case. I am interested in the discussion that follows tho.

It was gross, and looked like an act of butchery.

The video itself is a propaganda piece, with the decapitation coming only in a couple of fleeting glimpses, apparently after he has already been murdered. The butcher displays his head as a trophy afterward.

Daniel Pearl was a reporter, not a combatant. His only crime was being Jewish.

Cowardly scum murdered him. Delusional theologies are responsible.

Was Daniel Pearls body ever recovered?

Yeah, I think they found his body about a week later. Was it really because he was Jewish? I thought it was just because of him being an American journalist. Man, what a lot of killing going on in the name of God.

Single largest reason and all that. Dontcha know?
