Downtime today

There are routing problems at the Cellar's internet provider today.

Undertoad 04-12-2004 11:41 AM

OK, the problems appear to be related to the upstream provider of our upstream provider.

For the last half hour I'm the only one who can get to here! I'm so alone!

This has not been a fun day.

I was wondering what you would do today without the cellar, funny I figured you would have resorted to actual work. Silly me. ;)

lumberjim 04-12-2004 05:44 PM

Well, yeah, i actually did get a lot of catching up done. i still have this twitch, though....it may take a few more posts for that to settle down.

Naahh, whatever was going on seemed to affect several places. (One of my work ISP's DNS servers was squirrely too, which didn't help.)

Undertoad 04-12-2004 08:12 PM

Well, I expect it had to cut off about half of Delaware.

Most outages take about a half-hour to resolve - a router gets stuck and somebody has to reboot it, or something dies and has to be replaced with a spare. Seven hours means either somebody really screwed the pooch on a Monday-morning configuration change, without backups ready, or they had something die and didn't have a spare.

Well at least you didn't have some "Jethro " back hoe a fiberoptic linethat blanked out ALL of north east Arkansas like happened down here a few years ago , imagen no cell phone , internet access, or long distance for 3 days .
IT SUCKED !!!

To where, Norristown?

I wasn't that worried, but figured you were not having a good time.
