Television oddity

I just finished David Drakes latest book. In the forward he mentions that he got the inspiration from the turn of the century memoirs of a trading captain named Robert Quinton who was hired by Russian nobles to tour the South Seas.

So I got to thinking that the title character in McHales Navy is Quentin McHale who is also a trader captain. Did the show use the name Quentin as an homage to Robert Quinton?

I just checked on IMDB.com and the characters name is Quinton McHale. This pretty much clinches it for me.
