yay old city

This might be old news to some of you, and for you philly folks you might not even care ... but I learned this morning that the Real World is filming in Philly this spring. Beginning april I believe. I may have to drop in and make myself known on the show. :)

The Real World is a guilty pleasure of mine. Yeah, it's scripted and it's crap, but I dunno...there's something about it that makes it worth watching.

Can't you get some sort of in through the press, bn?

I'm gonna try ... hopefully the cast is pretty good looking, like it usually is. Wouldn't it be great to be "that guy" in one of the episodes. :)

"The Real World" will not be filmed in Philadelphia, after all.

The apparent reason: Unions.

You beat me to it.. I was gonna post this after I saw the headline in the Inqy this morning.

Go Philly!!!! Yayyyy!!!

Hallelujah. I don't go far into Philly more than once or twice a decade, but I'd be afraid that dropping such a package of CONCENTRATED SUCK into Philly might cause some of it to leak out into the suburbs and contaminate my environment.

Viva La Bam is both local and more "real" than anything that the "Real World" series has ever portrayed, for cryin' out loud.

Here's a forum that has an interesting take on this matter:

PhillyBlog: Philadelphia

Same board

Those blogs are comical, and a little frightening.

I'm tempted to send the Teamsters a "Well done" card with a $10 bill tucked inside.

Why, are you planning on running for mayor?

Only if I can do it remotely from West Chester.

You might see it as suck, vsp...a lot of people saw it as free publicity. Notice that you don't see the bad parts of town on "The Real World."

The thing I don't get is...if someone wants work done for them, can't they hire whomever they want? This isn't the first time the unions here have done shit like this.

Absolutely, and then you can have the union out picketing your establishment while the work is being done.

Not all publicity is good publicity. "Hey, there's the Liberty Bell! And there are two drunken MTV 'stars' vomiting on it! Let's plan a vacation, honey!"

"Any publicity is good publicity, as long as they spell your name right."--unknown

Looks like it's going to happen here after all...
