Axlrosen noticed this, uh, "beaut": this guy is shoveling snow off the sidewalk on Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Not quite as unexpected, I guess, as the IotD we had with Russian kids getting water poured on them in freezing weather.

What the hell is that thing around his neck?

And why is he wearing gloves and a hat?

What a knucklehead.

You don't want the poor fat guy to overheat and drop dead do you? He should just have a heart attack, as is traditional in snow-shovelling incidents.

Mom-wisdom teaches us that you lose the most heat through your head, hands and feet. As we can see, this gentleman has all of these covered.

Looks like your basic bid to get on the 5 O'Clock news report to me, or perhaps he is making good on a bet against the Patriots?

i have to say that i am disappointed....i was envisioning something more along the lines of the swedish bikini team when i saw the thread topic....
oh well.....he's cute, but i have to take away points for the necklace and the little tiny nipples

Gloves prevent blisters on the hands and duct taped handle prevents splinters in the belly.

While this is very thought out, the duct tape scares me.

This suggests that this guy does this regularly.

Normaly if you were getting splinters in your belly you'd put on a shirt. Duct taping the offending object suggests that getting a shirt is out of the question.

Not with shorts.:)

I'm guessing that the duct tape is from a repair made last year when he cracked the shovel over the head of some asshole that pulled into the parking space he'd just spent three hours clearing.

In Philly, that's a shooting offense.

Don't move the lawnchairs, what ever you do. South Philly has snipers waiting for you to do that.

You misunderstand Philadelphia.

I will educate you.

Philadelphia is one of America's oldest cities. Much of it was designed in the colonial era. The population was much smaller, and the primary means of conveyance was the horse drawn cart or carriage.

Consequently the streets are very narrow.

"Newer" neighborhoods were built at a time when fewer people had automobiles. They tend also to have narrower streets, and since everyone was using the trolleys to get everywhere, few people had a car.

If you live in Philadelphia, you do not have a driveway. You have on-street parallel parking.

In those rare neighborhoods (mostly in the Northeast, where there is some more recent development) that do have driveways, the penalty for shovelling snow into your neighbor's is that you get your house burned down.

Quietly.

During the day.

And nobody sees a thing.

Shame about that faulty wiring.

I suppose living in the suburbs doesn't get me the true "Philly" experience...but maybe thats a good thing. I've grown rather fond of my house...
