Question about an old knife

I have an old knife (hence the title of this post). I'm trying to find out who in the heck made it, and maybe an approimate date.

The details:

bowie type

gold'ish colored rivits in the handle have a little guy on them, arms out to the side

there is a crown in the middle of the handle tacked in place with brads/trim nails

the blade has engraving, two little stick men, one on each side of the lettering, both hammering on anvils

writing says: GESE???CH
??????T??
PRUSSIA

I've looked around (in person and on the net), and no luck. So if anyone is good with knives and could help I would much appreciate it.

E-

No luck, but thanks for the try.

Bruce-

Yep, wood handle, metal plates inside the wood, with the blade extending down through the handle

This was found in the crawl space of a building, which was built in the mid to late 1800's. Also found a 48 star flag, kinda cool.

Thanks for the help all, I'll see what else I can dig up.
