Anticipation

Any time there is a new CD coming out by one of my favorite artists, I always get excited...especially when they haven't put anything new out in some time. And when I go to the store to pick it up, it's almost as awesome as Christmas Day. I also get a similar feeling when one of my favorite artists is going on tour, and I'll have an opportunity to see them...again, especially if I haven't seen them perform in ages.

Follow my lead...

Currently anticipating new CD's from:

--Seal, Seal (2003): Comes out 9/9, it's been 5 years since his last release

--OutKast, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below: Comes out 9/23, first studio album in 3 years; essentially solo albums from each member; if the singles are any indication of the discs as a whole, they'll be great.

--A Perfect Circle, Thirteenth Step: Comes out 9/16; 3 years since the first release; 2 years since the last Tool album; the current single on radio sounds great.

CD's that I've eagerly awaited:

--The 3 Ministry studio albums released since 1992's Psalm 69

--The last 2 Nine Inch Nails studio albums

--Alice in Chains' Dirt (1992)

--Smashing Pumpkins' Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995)

--The 4 Reverend Horton Heat studio albums released since 1994's Liquor in the Front

--Ozomatli's Embrace the Chaos (unfortunately released on 9/11/01)

Concerts I've eagerly awaited:

--Ministry in St. Louis, August 1999: First time ever seeing them

--Every Reverend Horton Heat show I've attended: all 7 of them since 1995

--Ozomatli in St. Louis, August 1999

--Depeche Mode in Chicago (November 1998) and Philadelphia (July 2001)

--Lollapalooza 1993 (featuring Front 242, Alice in Chains, Tool, and Arrested Development)

--Sarah McLachlan and the Chieftains, August 1995

More as I think of them...

I'm also going to buy the new KMFDM CD when it comes out 9/23. Haven't bought a KMFDM CD in almost 10 years, but this one is supposed to top them all. I haven't disliked any of their work, so I'm sure it'll be good.

Personally I'm looking forward to hearing what Tantric does next. Their debut album was pretty killer. Unfortunately, it will probably be released while I am still on my RIAA boycott. D'oh!

I used buymusic.com for the first time tonight, and it's alright. We'll see how the songs work once I burn them.

As much as I would like to boycott the RIAA, unfortunately, many of the artists I like are still on major labels, and I'm not going to quit buying their stuff just because their bosses are dingleberries.

I had been looking forward to Jane's Addiction's new release but it got panned by the critics - seems they have lost their way. I'm always a little suspicious when bands go away then come back way later and release new stuff. I guess I sometimes think that they are doing it more because they ran out of cash then why they did it the first time (love of music, or whatever).

I didn't know Ministry and Seal were doing anything new (till I read your post) so I'll just get pumped up about that instead! :3eye:

Ministry's new CD is already out...it was released in February.

I dig the new song by Jane's. My whole understanding of the break-up (besides drugs) was that there was unresolved animosity, particularly between Dave and Perry. Apparently, everyone is happy and in love now, which resulted in Kettle Whistle a few years back.

Porno for Pyros was alright, but nothing spectacular. And Dave bounced around, from Deconstruction to the Peppers and back to Jane's. I think they both work better together. And let's be honest--did PFP really sound that much different from Jane's, other than less guitar noodling in PFP?

I don't think it was a cash issue for the reunion--both are probably making residuals from both their other bands (as well as their solo releases), plus Perry still has Lollapalooza. Neither of them would probably have to work again, so I have to believe it's because of the love of music.

Two more things to anticipate: An Ozomatli live CD and the new EP that just came out. Should arrive here in a week or so. Whoohoo!

Still have to buy the new OutKast and Perfect Circle CDs...maybe later in the month. Or...maybe someone could get them for me for my birthday, which is the 12th of this month. :)
