Rumsfeld is quickly removing all top generals and admirals. Look how far down the ranks he went to get a new Chairman for the Joint Chiefs. Something like tens of potential candidates were bypassed. Appreciate what this administration is trying to do. They want leaders to become blind followers. They fear the independent thinker - such as generals who say it will take 200,000 men and many years to settle Iraq. This is quite consistent with the attitudes of blind loyalty demanded in this White House - consistent with leaders who demand everyone wear ties. This is the type of leadership that fears change - anything that goes against their political agenda - reality and pragmatism be damned.
