5/21/2003: Prom wrecker
http://cellar.org/2003/promwrecker.jpg
Prom season in the US means that thousands of 16-and 17-year-olds are facing a most ridiculous rite of passage and tradition that makes little sense. I always feel sorry for the kids rolling through restaurants in their best rented/worn-once outfits, looking and feeling all inappropriate. In Racine, Wisconsin they have added to this foolishness by holding a post-prom celebration including a competition for who can arrive in the strangest mode of transportation. This couple showed in a tow truck/wrecker/etc with a swing attached. The caption doesn't say whether they won. But they do look happy and that's the important part. |
How's he supposed to score?
I thought that was part of the fun of prom. Trying to put the moves on, and getting shot down (or not depending on your luck). :p

Wow. And I thought waxing the car was bad.

I had a buddy of mine and his girlfriend show up to the prom driving an Ice Cream truck...
The juxtaposition of self-conscious anorexic high-school girls dressed in their finery being offered delicious confectionary treats was high-comedy.... ahhh, highschool.... ;) |
I skipped mine. Haha.
My girlfriend didn't care about it and I didn't care about it, so we didn't go. I actually had been intending to go outside and watch everyone come in, but I fell asleep and missed the whole thing. (edit: grammatical fix) |
I'm waiting for the second picture, where the rival ubercouple dumps blood on them from a backhoe.

This past weekend a friend told me she waited 17 years for the big night when she could take pictures of her daughter making the grand entrance down the stairs. At the appointed hour the girls date called and said he'd just finished cleaning the car and could she come over to his house while he got ready.
