Marking children is an age old tradition, often revealed by the kids therapists later in life.
But for immediate identification having them chipped helps, although that takes special equipment.
Probably the best method for quick identification at the playground is to tattoo them.

Makes sense... if your pregnant belly stretches and ruins your tattoo, it's only fair to get it redone on the kid.
