May, 18th, 2017: Art Installation Milan

Milan, Italy’s design week produced this unique installation. 2,000 Roses, Carnations, and lilies, plus thyme, sage, rosemary,
lavender, and mint, then perfumes like fresh cut grass, and metal bells/chimes, overwhelm the senses.

The flowers are planted in potatoes giving them structure and nutrients to keep them alive, at least for design week. Must have
faced the same problems as building a float for the Rose Bowl Parade. There’s 180 vertical lines, 10 m(33 ft) high,
spaced 20 cm(8 in) apart, across the 35m(115ft) façade.

This is nice but it certainly won’t replace the present attempts to greenify cities with walls of plants and trees.
Those are expected to last more than a week.

Rose Parade floats (probably most all flowered displays) use the little plastic vials you can see hanging from many of the stems.
Working on floats (and even occasionally riding inside them) was a common year-end activity for high schoolers in communities around Pasadena. I drank my first cup of coffee at three in a cold morning while attaching flowers.

Yeah, I figured they would have a problem getting that many flowers at one location, then get peak blooms on the float at the right day/time.
I drank my first coffee at 3 AM on a chilly morning of the 4-H cattle show circuit. Hated it, still don't touch it. :greenface

Don't think I have had a day without coffee in 60 years. I've had your share it seems.

You're welcome to it. I do drink iced tea a couple times a year but not a habit. Neither coffee nor tea can produce the jump start from meth. :lol2:
