Belgium

Belgium is small, #141 on the list of countries by size, with 30,528 sq km(11,787 sq mi), and 250 sq km(97 sq mi) of that is water. With a population of 11,323,973 to feed, and only 44.1% agricultural land(arable land 27.2%; permanent crops 0.8%; permanent pasture 16.1%), they can't waste land. This may be a posh estate. :haha:

I'll just make up a story and say they family in that house were the lone holdouts in the mega deal to sell the whole neighborhood to big agriculture.

I wonder if that plot was left over from the Middle Ages open field system.
There are still fragments of it to be seen in the UK and Wiki says it was also common throughout western Europe.

Wiki...

Quote:

Under the open-field system, each manor or village had two or three large fields, usually several hundred acres each, which were divided into many narrow strips of land.

That was my first thought when I saw it.

It seems to be a pretty posh place for a farmer, but fitting for a land baron owning all the fields around it. That was my made up scenario. It would be nice to look out any window to glimpse the seasons and crops constantly evolving. The only bad time would be when the fields are bare, the weather dry, and an aggressive wind whips up dust.
