About at my journey's end.

A few weeks ago my registry got corrupted and virusey and eventually wouldn't even work in safe mode so I borrowed a windows 7 disk from a friend and reinstalled the system.

Now windows is badgering me about activating my key. So I figure, fine. Quit nagging me.

Except it's not fine because after a lengthy convo with microshit, they tell me that they've blocked the key because I've already used it and it is an OEM key so I can only use it once.

I explain that it is going on the same machine and she said, "Too fucking bad, buy a new OS."

Fuckers. It's things like this that make me want to pirate the shit out of software.

They can fuck themselves. With a rusty toilet brush.

I contacted them, got some guy in India, told him this chicks PC got fucked and got to start from scratch but she lost the disc. OK, they'll send me the disc for $50, do it. Keep in mind I'm not an IT type, so I get the disc and can't load it. Call the same guy and he'll tell me how for $50. I declined, which since it took me 5 minutes was not complimentary to him or Microsoft.

I go on Google, and in another 5 minutes find not only how to do it, but that I could have used my XP disc. Lesson learned, duh. I still don't know if this was Microsoft or the outsource assholes trying to swindle me.

I need to find an updated method to get rid of the Windows 10 nag screen.

They asked me to upgrade once, I said no, and haven't heard anything since. I'm using 7pro and XP with Outlook Express in a virtual. Maybe the guy in India warned them. :haha:

The most disturbing thing about windows 10 is the mindset of the people who think it is OK to keep pressing their desires upon one after they've said no. Who thinks that is an acceptable strategy? I've said no thanks, stop asking me.

The guy at ultimateoutsider mentions that microsoft has actually downloaded Windows 10 onto people's machines (6Gb!)and put it in a hidden folder. because you just haven't met the right operating system yet, that's your problem.

The GWX control panel will show you if it's been downloaded.

It's a rapist mindset that doesn't take no for an answer, I can only imagine what type of sociopaths are working at microsoft.

That was easy. In gratitude I even let the whole commercial run before his youtube video. Of course it was for the new hot Camaro. :blush:

F3 - I recommend Mint 17 and the Cinnamon desktop running GNOME.

It's quite close to Windows. You can even d/l a free overlay that will make it just like any flavor of windows. Once you get it tweaked to your preference, you'll learn fast and love it.

Mine has been running 185 days without a reboot, including software updates. During that time, it has had several involuntary hibernation events due to the dog unplugging the power cord and still no crashes. Ya gotta admire that.

How is Windows 10? I've been pondering uploading the OS, but to be honest. I don't really get on my home computer enough to give a rats ass. Fuck it... Windows 3.3 is good enough.

It has issues, big issues, if you're concerned about privacy.

Happened to see my IT guy yesterday and asked him about Windows 10. He says not to do the upgrade version, but do a full clean install if you must have it. A client of his upgraded their tablet and $850.00 of billable time later, he straightened it out. Job security for the techies.(Hello Foots!)

Tech: Sir, that'll be $850 for the the repairs to your tablet.

Me: Oh, hell no. That motherfucker belongs to you now.
