War news images

These are from Michael J Totten's blog, and I just had to steal my favorites and post them here. I think tomorrow's IotD will be my favorite image from the war news so far (unless something better comes along).

There are images of stuff blowing up, there are images of tank fire and artillery fire, and wounded soldiers and people. And then there are these kinds of images... which are my favorite.

I love the smoking man in the sandstorm. But I thought the military was smoke-free.

Good ones.

Smoke free! Is it even remotely reasonable to tell someone who might get blown into small pieces without warning that he isn't entitled to a fucking cigarette?!

Jesus H. Christ, if I were over there right now I would start smoking again on my way down the fucking stairs off the transport plane.

Yes the US military is now officially smoke-free. Too lazy to get a cite right now, but I do remember the headlines "Smoke 'em if you've got 'em: snuffed"

I thought you just couldn't buy smoke on base anymore, but that smoking itself was another "don't ask, don't tell" issue.
