Spring has sprung?
I can't say whether these are quality images, but the weather has been so beautiful lately that I felt like taking a couple of pics around the yard.
http://home.earthlink.net/~jakeline/Pics/Roses.jpg Here are the first roses of the season. This was taken about 10 minutes ago in our front lawn. http://home.earthlink.net/~jakeline/...idingDoggy.jpg And here's the neighbor's dog trying to harass me. Usually, there are two dogs popping up like that, but I couldn't catch both of them at the same time. Not exactly a quality image, but it amused me. Happy Spring (unless you live in Colorado :D)! |

snow and 40-50 mph winds. now thats what i call a beautiful day. ~james |
We've finally had some decent weather, mid 40s and a good 20 mile wind. It's time for shorts.

I love those roses, my favorite color. All we have here is the Wisteria, Jasmine, and of course our all famous Azalea bushes.
I enjoy the beauty of spring but not pollen season. |

You obviously live *way* further South than I do...we have narcissus, crepe hyacinth, Forsythia, tulip trees and the other usual Spring cold snap victims blooming now, but we are many weeks away from roses hereabouts in KC.

mmmm Jasmine. My favorite.

This is actually from some other spring, but I think it captures both sentiments nicely.

A bit of Zone envy.
Where the wet snow is melting quickly I can see some rich black mud...the flowers will come, I'll just have to wait a few more weeks. I'm craving digging in the dirt, but the north teaches patience. We havent even had our April showers. Daffodils have always been a favorite. and crabapples, mayapples, trillium, hepatica, bloodroot, lungwort! the best plants have the strangest names. |
I know I shouldn't brag or crow about all this. I mean, in a few months, I'll be bitching about the heatwave where it has reached 105 for the third day in a row.
Just for reference, I live in San Dimas. It's a suburb of LA, about 30 miles east. And yes, in case that sounds familiar, it's the same San Dimas from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. :) |
Well as I have found out lots of dwellers are up north. I am on the buckle of the bible belt, South Carolina. I am going crazy with spring allergies. We have now dogwood and honeysuckle in bloom, since the last post I did.

Just came back from our Adirondac replacement vacation up near Gore mtn. The xc skiing was crap cuz the snow was pretty well melted. We drove home in snow showers and found 5 inches of fresh stuff when we arrived. I'm convinced the storm was due to my faithlessness in pursuing snow up north when I should have been cycling here. my bad

It fucking snowed here yesterday.
And I'm in Virginia. |
Well this morning the wind chill was 30 degrees and I am in SC. All those pretty flowers will go to shit with the frost advisory tonight. Here we thought winter was over but mother nature bitch slapped us. I know quit bitching, I have no snow.:)
