All Hail the Big Bass Overlord
|
He seems to give the Red Hot Chili Peppers a disproportionate representation.

That was fun. I was surprised how many bass lines were also what I think of as the melodies.
|
I expected a big fish.
I am disappoint. |
You know how to tell if the stage is level?
The bass player drools out both sides of his mouth. [/olddrummerjoke] |
It's a'ight! I'm not gonna nit-pick.
...sure I am, because there are some things he left out! "I Was Made To Love Her" ... I mean if you're gonna pick Stevie Wonder "Get Lucky" ... I mean if you're gonna pick a Daft Punk song "Love Will Tear Us Apart" ... Let Peter Hook show you how it's played "Pump It Up" ... is the most iconic of all the E Costello hits catalogue "Ace of Spades" ... for the sake of fuck "Beat It" ... the guy picked Billie Jean but I think you'll find this more iconic "School Days" ... Stanley Clarke because you're gonna pick something not Jaco "The National Anthem" ... Radiohead. Three notes. "Girls and Boys" ... a much better choice for Blur "Come Together" ... really? Or did I miss it? "Gimme Some Lovin" ... Two notes. "White Rabbit" ... is not a great song but it does have that iconic bass riff "Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick" "The Mayor of Simpleton" |
One Chris Squire? No Cake?
It's interesting how some bass lines are only a couple of notes, and others are several measures long. |
You'll have to just use your ears for this one.
