library internest connection woes Default gateway unavailable BS
 

So, I'm back in the village but too broke to have my own internest at the house. I go to the library to do my computing stuff. Anyway. Several times a visit I get slow pages and then no pages. I run troubleshooting and it fixes the Default Gateway Unavailable problem and things are ok for a while. But then I gots ta do it again.

Also, I seem to be unable to download anything from *cough*torrentsites*cough*.

Anybody have any clues about any of this shit?

I'm sure they have filtered out the torrent port (6881, I looked it up). You would have to contract with a VPN, where you'd push all your networking through an innocent port that the library doesn't filter.

That would be pretty rude. But you could do it.

I think it would be faster to ask friends with high speed connections to share files you want, by sending you thumb drives via the U.S. Priority Mail. But that could involve mentioning which kind of porns you like, and I for one am not interested in that information.

Something must have happened to my brain during a gin and tonic skirmish because I took one look at VPN and decided I didn't have whatever it takes to try to learn that stuff right now. I used to be more on top of all this sort of thing, but now, not so much.

As far as the Pr0n goes, I've got tumblr and tumblr ripper so I'm good with all that. And my tastes are pretty ...pedestrian... (I'll be here all week) but recently I've discovered a sub-genre of amateur pr0n that is just happy smiling ladies having fun while having sex or whatever. It's amazingly refreshing to see people actually having fun! I realized how bad it has been for so long when I tumbled onto that tumblr.

I first heard the term 'fluffer' in 2012, while working at the Occ Med clinic here in smallville. I had no idea what it meant, to the delight and hilarity of the entire staff. The permed, rinsed, beauty parlored 60-year-old at the front desk who otherwise pretended to be motherly, filled me in.

I have to figure out an acceptable way to tell stories without breaching any confidentiality, except that sooner or later everyone is identifiable online. So I fear that my stories will have to remain in my paper journal.

First, ahem, hand experience no doubt.

Use the same anonymous names in every story: Andrew/Alice, Barbie/Benedict, Clarice/Charlie, etc. As for the prurient details, embellish. In the unlikely event that the changed names do not protect the innocent, they'll be flattered instead of embarrassed. Post as anonymous.
