On the road again!

Here I sit in Oahu, Hawaii. My wife has a 2 week project for Chevron with another 3 week stint planned for mid March.

Raining like a son of a gun... Knee high to a Ferris Wheel as they say in East Texas...

I'll post some images as I shoot them. Planning to swim, snorkel and find some waterfalls to shoot as well as surfers as this is the time for big surf.

Crazy year 2012 was. I logged 75K miles with United and my wife 0ver 100K. We were only home for about 4 months. I shot over 10K pictures and am still trying to edit them. This year could be the same with Shell talking about a project in Malaysia and Exxon in Singapore. I told my wife she better get used to curry and other east Indian dishes and lots of pork!

I'm looking forward to pictures! I don't know that I'll ever get there but visiting Hawaii is on my life list. (Specifically: eating Matsumoto shaved ice and a Puka Dog hot dog.)

Paradise doesn't get that green on its own.

I remember pulling my camera out of the air conditioned car there one day, stepping outside, and the condensation from the moist rainforest instantly fogging up the lens. As soon as I would wipe it away, it would fog up again.

Happened to me to on my first trip to a tropical climate. Now as long as I am on a safe higher floor of a building with a covered patio I leave the camera bag outside overnight if I am planning a dawn shoot. And I try not to get the car too cold with the AC.

Just booked our next trip to Hawaii for phase 2 of my wife's work project, looks like we will have to be on this god forsaken island for another 3 weeks in March with nothing to do but eat raw fish and pineapples and spend my days on the beach swimming in the ocean.

When I grow up I really need to find some kind of job or get a career or something! :D
.
My wife says she has to go to Fort McMurray, Canada way up in norther Alberta in late March where it should still be below freezing most of the time. Think I'll take a pass on that one.

Well we are back in Oahu for another 3 weeks of my wife working and me swimming in the ocean, fishing and general sight seeing of a non tourist nature (no Polynesian shit)

We are getting up at 5 am and we walk about 1.5 miles (under the full moon right now) and then have a great breakfast before I drive out HUGE Ford Expedition to the Chevron refinery. We reserved a Ford Edge but when we got here they said they had none and would we like a convertible Mustang? "Not on your life!" I said. Convertible here are great theft cars as they can easily be broken into. So they gave us this huge SUV which is rather hard to park in the tiny spaces that are typical here in Oahu.

It is very windy here, trade winds or something but nice. Better than home in Houston!!!:D
