Celebration Day

Led Zeppelin Played a single concert in 2007. 18000 people attended. 2 million requested tickets.

They made a movie out of it. That movie is playing 2 nights in our area. Weds and Thurs this week in King of Prussia at 7:30 PM.

awesome press conference with John Paul Jones, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page.

Jason Bonham, John's son, played drums for them. They speak very highly of him and his ability. at one point JPJ states that he was the 'expert' on how the songs should go... as in... this one ends with this bit, or that bit....

I'm going to go if I can get it organized with the kids. Spencer wants to go, Ripley not so much...

Love the Zep. The Zep and the Stones.

and Neil Young when I'm feelin' all mellow and cinnamon-girl-y.

Seeing how old those guys look makes me feel old. Robert Plant looks like Tim Curry's grandfather.

So they still have it after all these years?

jimhelm 10-18-2012 08:46 AM

They do.

I think this was a pretty smart move, the way they did it. They did 1 show. they did it for a small crowd. then they release the movie in theatres... having had the chance to fix their errors in post production. This way, the masses get a show that was very like The Song Remains the Same from 1973. If you watched the press conference above, someone asked if they did edit, and Robert copped to them tuning a bit of Kashmir because by then he was just blown... i suspect that there were other parts fixed.

But Yeah... Jimmy still has it for sho. it was really cool to see him Duck Face and do that thing where he whacks the guitar with a violin bow.... and even a little bit of Theramin action.... And Jason Bonham! holy hell. I guess he's had his whole lif to practice, but he has his dad's licks DOWN. During the fill at the end of Rock n Roll, he was even yelling and chomping like Bonzo used to do.

I am REALLY glad I took my kids. Spencer already liked them, but now he is in awe like I am. and Ripley liked Misty Mountain Hop, but she thought Robert's pants were too tight.

My buddy Dan went with us, and was glad to have seen it.

My only disappointment was that it was not nearly loud enough in the theatre. the tickets were $15 and it played in a place where Imax movies are played... but it was just regular movie audio...not even surround sound. Oh, and the old people sitting next to me kept talking. They had seen Led Zeppelin during their very first tour in 1969, but the stupid lady didn't know anything, and kept asking her husband questions that I knew the answers to, but didn't want to answer because I was involuntarily eves dropping, but I shouldn't have even been able to because it should have been fucking louder goddamnit. so , yeah.. it was not loud enough.
