USAF Band Site
http://www.usafband.af.mil/recordings/index.asp
The USAF has a website for it's various bands. This includes downloadable MP3's covering choral, strings, jazz, etc. And it's LEGAL, which I am sure will salve the consciences of the law-abiding members of the Cellar. |
It should be available considering the hundreds of millions they cost us every year.

Maybe this thread is close enough...
And maybe it's been posted before, but I enjoyed my chance finding of it. They really take off around the 4:15 minute mark... The Swiss Top Secret Drum Corp is written up in Wikipedia |
That was some pretty flashy drum-playin', it's gonna be hard to beat.

Air Force vs Army drumline battle. |
I'm fascinated by the idea that in this modern age, we still have bands in our armed forces. And not just a couple. There are so many military bands. And the musicians spend the lions share of their time doing music for their work instead of other stuff soldiers do.
Both our kids get music lessons, and in both cases, their teachers are musicians currently in the armed forces. They spend their days riding buses around the DC area showing up at different events to play for an hour or so and then get back on the bus and go somewhere else. They play for politicians. They play at ceremonies. They play at public concerts. I know it started as tradition. Drummers leading the battle. Trumpets playing taps at burials. That sort of thing. But it's like the military has gotten a little too big, if it's branching out into drum line battles. It's entertaining though. And I like it. |
Were'nt band members also trained as Corpmen (first aid) ?
But maybe that's not as important now with drones etc. . |
