Obama ... via a Canadian friend.

"Obama is FAR more popular with the ME than Bush ever was and his popularity in Europe is still remains at 80% - TRIPLE what Bush's ratings were. The CBO report that came out only days ago showed that the stimulus planned WORKED - period. So did the auto bail out plan. Remember that one, the one that your candidate Romney spoke out so forcefully against and then tried to take credit for? Yeah, that one. Conservatives like to pretend that they are fiscally responsible but they aren't, which is why they support a health care system that makes healthcare double the cost in the US than it is in any other industrialized nation. In the ten years before the implementation of the president's health care reform, insurance premiums for American families more than doubled so you can't blame the healthcare plan for the greed of insurance companies. The average family health care policy annual premium (through employers) has risen by 9% in 2011 from 2010, according to a Kaiser Family Foundation report cited by The New York Times. The average operating profit margins by insurance companies in that same period rose 8.4%, according to a Bloomberg Government study. Coincidence? Oh please, pull the other one. As far as your claim that Obama has 'betrayed students,' give me a break. Corporations making record profits and sitting on it and refusing to invest it or hire American workers but instead continuing to outsource American jobs and whine endlessly about corporate tax rates that are the lowest they have been in over 40 years, and greedy conservatives who want to gut minimum wage laws, destroy PELL grants, and dismantle public education are the ones who are destroying the future of your children, not Obama. It is unfortunate that you can't see the good that your president has done for you, both domestically and abroad. You are so blinded by the ugly rhetoric on the right that you simply oppose him on principle's sake, even when he proposes policies that were broadly supported by conservatives just a few years ago. When Obama was elected, many of us around the world applauded in admiration. He brought out the best in you - the world's first truly post-modern leader - a man of enormous dignity, intelligence, compassion, and strength who transgressed racial and religious divides. Now, four years later, many of us shake our heads and see how the worst elements among you - the bigots, the dead-eyed religious zealots, the braying "American exceptionalism" donkeys, the bullies - have come to define you and speak for you. David Cameron praised Obama's "strength, moral authority and wisdom" a few months ago at a state dinner and said that Obama had "pressed the reset button on the moral authority of the entire free world". Cameron is right. It is a pity that the right wing in the US is so blinded by its unreasoning hatred of Obama to be able to see that."

Yeah, that's how it looks from down here, too.

I normally try to stay out out threads like this...

But...

Holyfuckinshit.

Could I interest this person in a good used car? Owned by a little old lady from Manitoba...

Perhaps some real estate?

BrianR 06-17-2012 07:21 PM

Too Late. They are already buying this bridge....

footfootfoot 06-17-2012 08:57 PM

srsly, did it not tip all of you off that when a partially Afro-Am person was elected pres. that we were engaged in democracy theater?

First of many clues was bush's election.

politicians should have to wear sponsor's logos just like Nascar drivers do. Then you'd see how democratic this country is.

Please wake up and smell something.

regular.joe 06-17-2012 09:10 PM

I'm pretty sure we live in a republic. Electing a black man as president is theater? What's the use of having money if we can't buy politicians with it??
