April 10, 2012 Yin-Yang Nudibranchs
http://cellar.org/2012/colorful12-hy...chs_17437_.jpg
Here are two beautiful nudi's mating. It looks like the yin-yang symbol. I wonder which is which? Oh, wait a minute. They both are both sexes! What they are doing is fertilizing each other so they will each have babies. Wow, wouldn't that be handy. Men could finally experience the joys of childbirth! Coming back down to earth, I must warn everyone that these brightly colored sea slugs are venomous and unpalatable. I think we should rename them the drag queens of the deep! Found in National Geographic, the home of the prettiest pictures on earth. This image produced by David Doubilet. |

Straight hermaphrodites are simply making a lifestyle choice.

Ordinary garden snails do the same thing, and I assume that slugs do as well although I admit I've never caught slugs in the act.

But having had a painkiller up the poopshoot, I can honestly say it would be my delivery method of choice any time I was in similar pain. |
