Oxford OH (Miami Uni)

We (Hebe and I) need to stay near there March 23-24 (within 30 minutes would be good) Nearby hotels are almost all booked up already, we can live with not being within 5 mins of uni/pool, but would really like not to be in a dump. And not pay $120 for a 1* with no brekky. Any recommendations for lesser known places/B&Bs dwellars/dwellar relatives who would like a few $ for the use of a spare room?

Oh, they need to be good with us getting up at 4am.

That might be hard. We were there last summer when Zing 2 was looking at colleges. It's a really small town.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn, but there wasn't any contention then.

I'm thinking not stay in the town. they seem to like to host big comps, but don't have the hotel facilities to deal....

It's pretty much town and then cornfields, from what we saw. Good luck on your search.

Eh, it's always warm inside a nice freshly killed hobo.

If your lass gets to like it, she could even go into business. Hebe's hobos!

You know, I was thinking Oxford was way closer to Cincy.

Maybe stay in Hamilton? Maybe a half hour away and it's a bigger town so has a lot of accomodations.

Funny fact: For a time, Hamilton added an explanation point to their official name. Hamilton! We laughed and laughed, always exclaiming HAMILTON! out of the clear blue for no reason. Kind of like exclaiming SCIENCE!

hmmmm :/

She's only qualified for one event on the Sat, but I just learned she can enter bonus events so it may be more than one night. Maybe i'mm'a rent an RV?

You could try a motel at exit 29 off I-75 in Monroe or exit 32 in Middletown and not be too far away.

infinite monkey 02-24-2012 08:51 AM

Hamilton is closer than Monroe or Middletown.

If you rent an RV, Hueston Woods State Park is nearby.

I'm in denial about this........... must book hotel for Zeeland (State champs) today -that's the weekend before. i have designed the team shirt and bought the cap though. We have a team of three for that -although there are two championships -one for the older kids and one for the younger ones. We used a flaming font and put "Hotter Otters" on the front and the usual State team stuff on the back. For the two 14-year olds. Then last night we realized a 10yo was also going to qualify...... her parents are cool with it.... *phew*

monster 02-24-2012 01:05 PM

Hamilton is where I was looking at, thanks

monster 03-07-2012 10:21 PM

Ok it looks like the Super 8 in Harrison -anyone heard of dead hobos being stashed here?

I found a motel at the same price right in the center of Oxford. the reviews turned my stomach!

Well, we're paying $60/night for a 2* Super 8 40 minutes away. crazy, huh? A few rooms in Oxford did open up -$160/night -Super 8 level.
