That's exactly it, it's defiance in the face of the "learning to dance in the rain" saying. Which is actually a Bible verse, but it's made enough headway into secular culture to be readily recognizable. You see it a lot in the sig files of the topical messageboards I spend time on, along with other inspirational sayings about marathons-not-sprints and that sort of thing. The actual wording was forced by the character limit of the user title, I think I was originally trying to do something less poetic, about inventing umbrellas or something, but it wouldn't fit... but yeah, fuck learning to dance in it. :)
