Going through some stuff my brother found that belonged to my Dad. Along with his glider wings, and a Berlin pass in four languages, I found this newpaper clipping. It's from the Springfield MA Daily News, on November 27th, 1944. Evidently it was a regular column about children who had been born after their fathers went to war, called the "I've never seen my Daddy Club".
The handwriting at the top is definitely my mother's mother. She probably cut it out because at that time we were living in Chicopee Falls, while Pop was in Europe. I showed it to my mother but it didn't ring any bells. I'm parking it here to make it searchable for the decendents of the people involved. Barbara may be alive but her folks, less likely. Little babs is cute as a button. Her mom is also rather dishy.
It would be awesome if someone in the family found this. |
You're a good guy for posting this Bruce. This will be gold for the family if they find it.

That is an interesting glimpse into how society connected with the war...
