Is this bitchy?
I took out names/links not advertising for him. A guy writes me out of the blue about re doing my website:
Hi there. This is XXXXX (owner and head designer of XXXXXXXXXXXX). I would love to redesign your dog breeding website. We recently designed the website for http://www.XXXXXXXXXXXX.com and we are looking to add more dog breeding websites to our companies portfolio. I am also currently working on two designs for "XXXXXX". The links below should give you a good idea of my studios range. http:// http:// XXXXXXX Design is an award winning design studio that has created 100s of websites for all types of businesses and we are always looking to branch out in to new genres of website design. If you are interested, we'd love to redesign your current website. We can offer you top notch site design at a fraction of the price that any other design studio can offer. Our normal rates are $500 for site design (paid after you are 100% satisfied with the site) but we can also work within any budget you might have if $500 is more then you can afford right now. Your site would also come with free search engine optimization and a lifetime of free webmastering (something that no other design studio offers). Before you make your decision, take a look at some of the links above to see the extremely high quality of work we can provide. If you are interested, please get in contact with me via email as soon as possible. Thanks for your time. I hope to hear from you soon. :) I was a bit offended by this {bitchy?] My answer: What is wrong with my website? Yours takes so long to load I can't even wait for it. I am on dial up. Your words are too small to read.Page cannot be found is something one likes to see when clicking on links. [not really] Yah I'll keep what I have. So he writes me back: Theres really no reason to be rude about it. I was just offering my services. My design studio has one a ton of awards for our websites and been showcased on a lot of design sites. You know, I enjoyed working on these sites and figured I would contact other dog breeders to offer them cheap site design. But you are the second dog breeder to reply in a rude way today. I think I will stick with designing tattoo studio sites instead. Thank you for your time. and I reply again: [I know I must be bored] You have rude down pat. Telling someone they need a new website when you have nothing better to offer is rude. By the way I don't really know about all the awards you have "one" but I am sure there was not one, won, for your use of the English language. This guy's signature includes that he is an editor for an online magazine :eyebrow: |
I thought his first email was pretty diplomatic. He's just trying to drum up business. Like online telemarketing I reckon.
|
Dumfuk can't even spell "our companies portfolio" properly, you don't want to pay him to do anything.
Besides ... if you need your site re-done, I'd suggest a fine new company that makes great, affordable websites. (I have a hard time believing that tattoo studios would be more polite. Really hard time.) |
I like how you got all grammar nazi on his cold calling ass. Whether you were rude or bitchy is immaterial.
He contacted you unbeckoned. It was unprofessional to call you rude, even if you were/are. It was fairly spastic salesmanship to launch into a pitch telling you what a shit site you have. |
You were right on the money. What a knob.
"Our website has one a ton of awards..." Did he mean 'won' or is it an actual ton, they've weighed them all, and he's italian. |
One Ton of Fragile awards?
Mama Mia! |
Aw shoot, considering that his was only a fishing expedition, you probably could have refrained from replying. BUT his response to your response was hilarious. He's got issues.
|
this is why I'm not in sales.
I think he's just doing his version of cold calling, an exercise I don't like and do poorly (witness my fruitless jobsearch--sales--HA!). His tone, style, whatever didn't gibe with you and that's fine. There is some section of the population that will respond well to such an approach. I'm not in that section, you're clearly not in that section. I think his abuse of the language is inexcusable. ur doin fine. :) |

I get stuff like that all the time. Its amazing to me how badly the language is abused in some of the emails, ads and correspondence I get from them. |
The guy's first e-mail was a standard advertising pitch. I'd have just deleted it. His second reply was rude and unprofessional - so what if your response was critical? As a salesman, he should have a thicker skin. Again, just deleting your reply would have been the reasonable thing for him to do.

Define "Bitchy".
|
I have to disagree SamIam about that being a standard advertising pitch. In sales you always suck up to the customer. I almost wanted to write his opening letter for him but then someone might fall for it and actually give this guy money.
A better opening would have been to say I am so and so and my company designs websites. We have designed a few for dog breeders. Here they are: http://example He did write me again: Sorry for taking up your time. I could not decide if he was sorry or being an ass but I never wrote him again. This made me think he was a high school student. @Merc bitch·y 1. Malicious, spiteful, or overbearing. 2. In a bad mood; irritable or cranky. |
He displayed the emotional maturity of a high school student.
