The Kabaton

I am thinking about getting a Kabaton.

There are a few options. I would really like to get the rounded tipped one but I am not sure of the legality of any.

Many people use sharpies and minimag lights as a Kabaton.

What are your self defense weapons? If any.

The word you are searching for is "Kubaton."

Legality will vary based on jurisdiction, but hey, it's just a keychain, right?

If you get one, you have to know what to do with it.

That might be the tricky part.

Sharpies, meh, I don't know...Just get one these, and swing for the cheap seats. Much more effective than a kubaton, and not much bigger, when collapsed. Although kubatons are not without their uses...

Are they umbrellas? :hopeful grin:

But, if you go for the kubaton, get the pointy one.

The ASP is probably restricted. The Kubaton is probably not.

Johnny Lawdog used one of those on my noggin once. Once. Bumbershoots, they ain't.

I'm not familiar with an ASP, but, extendable batons are a dime a dozen.

"Put these on!"

"Get in the car!"
"Fuck you!"

WHACK.

"Yes, Officer? How may I assist you?"

An asp is what done Cleopatra in, when she decided to go that route.

Is there an asp in the house?

I had a nightmare the other night. It got me wondering what I would do in a situation.

Not so much of a stretch of the imagination to jab a pointy metal object in the boney part of a persons hand, temple.

I very well know how to hurt someone if they approached me.
I wouldn't mind stabbing someone who was trying to hurt me, but a knife seems a little much.

The expandable baton is restricted as are tactile pens and<s>tactical flashlights</s> (my bad)
The short Kubaton seems to be in a grey area.

As a female I might get away with it. A male might be questioned on intent.

Gravdigr 04-04-2011 11:41 AM

I have one. Damn if can prove it right now though, can't locate it. Smoky Mountain Knifeworks. They may be restricted in places, but, they didn't ask me for nothing but a credit card number.

A restricted flashlight? For real? I gotta have one of those now.

lookout123 04-04-2011 11:42 AM

It's a keychain. It's hard to question someone about a 3 or 4" keychain with no sharp edges or moving pieces.

Gravdigr 04-04-2011 11:50 AM

Looking a little closer, SMKW says they (extendable batons) are restricted in MA, NY, and CA.
