March Madness

Out of the 4 brackets that will bring fourth the 4 teams to compete in this years final four, the East has to be the strongest.
Ohio State, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Syracuse, all bunched up into 1 group.
As a betting man, i like to make me some money, so i'm going to bypass all the above teams mentioned, despite my favor in Ohio State and Kentucky, and go with the long-shot Villanova.
Another huge huge price in this East, you'll find in Georgia, who have completely surprised me this season in how good they are!

The West doesn't look that weak either, its got some biggies in it.
Again, i'm gonna look to try and make some money out of this, and bypass the very strong Duke team.
I can't really do the same with Texas though, as they can beat any team, on any given day this season....IMO, the price is bigger than it should be.
I'm also gonna go with a loooooooong looooong shot in Temple.
They don't really have any superstars on the team, but i see some strong fundamental coaching this season....if not the final four, i can at least see them causing an upset or two.
The price of course is hard to look past.

The Southwest is not quite as strong as the other above brackets in my eyes. Notre dame is highly over-rated as a team, despite the individual talent they hold.
Louisville looks weaker to me than they have in recent years.
The same goes for Purdue, who despite remaining solid on the defensive side, look very weak at times with the ball in their hands.
Despite wanting to find a long-shot, i simply can't here.
So i'm left with the favorite Kansas, who's price, under the circumstances is not so bad.

The Southeast is clearly the weakest of the four brackets.
The one team that surprised me the most this season in how good they are, is Florida.
Clearly superior when compared to the competition here: Pittsburgh, Wisconsin, and BYU.
St.John's has taken some leaps forward, but to compete in a final four playing games away from NY??? You gotta be kidding me.
I can't imagine a scenario where Florida isn't playing in the end, and for this reason, i'm placing a few extra coins on them showing up.

OHIO STATE!!!!!

W.HI.P 03-17-2011 04:08 PM

Villanova has a very tough game tomorrow against George Mason.
So, i've also placed a few coins on George Mason winning the east at a very large price.
Either team will give Ohio State a run for their money in the next round!

@Brianna ....as far as your Ohio State team is concerned, they're in the best condition i've seen them in over the past few years, so don't think i'm underestimating them.
The reason i'm mentioning it, is to point out how tough their schedule is after that easy UTSA game tomorrow.

Money is the objective here.
Ohio State is and will be HEAVY favorites against either of these teams in the next round.
If you were to ask me if Ohio State was a wise bet to make the final four, i'd say NO!!
Even if they make it past the next round, they'll have Kentucky or West Virginia waiting for them.
All this of course, before the eastern final.
So, yeah.... not worth the small price at all.
Which is why, i'm trying to find the high priced challenger!

None of our teams are out as of yet.
Temple won a close one.
Florida looked like the most dominant team in the competition after day 1.
We did lose some of the competition as St.John and Louisville both got beat!

Basketball is apparently considered more important than the exciting Arizona v. Ray trial I've been watching on TRU-TV.

What's with basketball on the court channel, anyway?

Well that's what they do, isn't it? Show criminals on TV?

Nothing against basketball in particular, mind you. In my perception, at least, the vast majority of all professional athletes are criminals in some way or another.

Huge day for me today with Florida playing, and Temple, up against a superior team (On paper) #2 seed San Diego State.

Mizzoula for West Virginia is coming up big!

We're still with a team in each bracket :

George Mason plays against Ohio State for a spot in the eastern quaterfinal with Kentucky.
George Mason is good enough to compete in this game.
Perhaps cause the biggest upset of this march Madness.
I at LEAST expect them to beat this spread!!!

Texas with a tough match-up against Arizona.
I think they'll be fine, despite the weakness they showed in their last game.
If they play with a team effort instead of individually, they'll make the final four easily.

Kansas has to beat Illinois to get an "Easy on paper" match-up against Richmond in the sweet 16.
I saw no sign of any team in this bracket that can compete against this Kansas team.
Kansas would have to want to not participate in the final four, to not make it there.

Florida is already in the sweet 16, and are about to face, what looks like, the only obstacle in their way to the final four BYU.
Should they win, all they'll have left to do, is beat the winner of the Wisconsin-Butler game, which should be a much easier task than the one they face.

It looks like we're gonna have 2 teams in the final four, and 1 team in the final game.
I couldn't have hoped for anything better.
Florida is a game away from it, and will most likely bee meeting our other pick Kansas in the final four to get to the final.
Given the amount of money wagered on Florida, I would hope that its the Gators in the final.

I can't recall a March Madness where we had a negative net!
