Wheat's genetic code cracked
LONDON – British scientists have decoded the genetic sequence of wheat — one of the world's oldest and most important crops — a development they hope could help the global staple meet the challenges of climate change, disease and population growth.

Wonder if, when they get done modifying wheat's genetic code to withstand drought, etc., it will still be nutritionally useful to a human body? :3_eyes:

You vil eat da porridge, and you vil like it... or else. :haha:

There have been multiple studies done feeding steady diets of both GMO corn and GMO soy on lab mice... and within three generations the mice are mostly sterile and increasingly dropping dead for no reason. But technically I suppose it's fine by me and my family if they want to permanently fuck up the wheat species as well.
It is an ironic hubris that believes a few decades of science is more effective than evolution. |
