Starting to plan for my next computer build

Now that I'm shooting some 1080p video with my Canon 5D mkII as well as the larger JPEG and RAW files I've noticed how slow my computer is when trying to run or process the video in Adobe Premiere or Photoshop CS4 so I think it is time for a newer and faster model.

Here is my plan so far, I think I can reuse the tower as it has ample slots and other bells and whistles and the 4 internal hard drives should meet my needs although I may swap one out with a 1 TB model. Oh and it has pretty blue lights

Here is my shopping list so far:

1. Asus P6T WS Professional Core i7 / Intel X58/ DDR3/ CrossFireX & SLI/ A&2GbE/ ATX Motherboard
2. Intel Core i7 Processor i7-920 2.66GHz 8 MB LGA1366 CPU
3. Corsair CMPSU-850TX 850-Watt TX Series 80 Plus Power Supply
4. Pioneer BDR-205 - Blur Ray Disk drive - BD-RE - 12x/2x/8x - Serial ATA
5. Corsair CMD12GX3M6A1600C8 Dominator 12 GB PC3-12800 1600Mhz 240-pin Triple Channel DDR3 Memory

I'm also thinking of making the switch from Vista Office 32 to Windows 7 Premium 64 bit. That way, as I understand it I can take full advantage of the large amount of RAM and also the other features of the quad processor and Crossfire configuration. From what I have seen more software manufacturers are addressing this issue.

Any thoughts?

If you ever think you'll go to CS5 or later, you may want to get one of the video cards that support the Mercury Playback Engine in Premiere Pro. Or upgrade the card then if it they don't support the FX 1800 by then.

Why don't you just buy an iMac, and be done with it?

Chris, I'm not sure about the components, but I understand that 64 bit will make a huge difference in the speed of things.

I find Lightroom runs a bit slowly and lags with 32 bit. I think sperlock has a good point about being ready for a CS5 upgrade, it is inevitable and now is the time to do that 'preemptive' upgrade.

I bought a gaming computer from dell about 4 or 5 years ago even though I don't game. It is still a great performer with CS4 and huge files. The only downside is LR2. Now that LR3 is out I am having to consider some hardware upgrades.
