Making the upgrade from a CRT TV to LCD LED!
Just ordered a new TV, the LG LE8500, a 55 inch LCD LED beauty. It replaces a 32 inch Toshiba CRT we bought in 1995 for close to $1000! We had been thinking about upgrading for awhile and Best Buy had some good sale prices and incentives. Amazing technology, it even has a wireless connection to hook into our home network and download firmware updates or stream movies from Netflix. We also got a nice Blue Ray player and a HD radio tuner for the the main stereo system. I have an older tuner/home theater system but it is still in good shape and it's a Nakamichi with good sound and my CD player is also Nakamichi.
Funny thing is we have the whole sound and TV system mounted in and on a beautiful mahogany cabinet that my grand mother got in the 1950 that had a Zenith home entertainment system in it, TV, radio tuner and turntable and speakers. We removed the old TV and that is where the tuner and other components are. I took out the old 10 inch woofer and built a panel to hold the bass reflex speaker for the surround sound. We left in the old tuner and turntable which pulls out when you open the door on one side. Nice to use it because it's in really good shape and they sure don't make anything that nice anymore; all solid wood and veneer.
I'll post some pics when the TV is delivered.
