Not very exotic, but...
Dallas Texas.
I am heading up there in a few minutes to go to a Very Important Job Interview. One that will TRIPLE my last wages. And improve my employee experience greatly in nearly every way. I have gone through most of the background checks, just waiting on the FBI now. That should be okay too, as I hold a HazMat certification in addition to Doubles/Triples and Tanker certs. If all goes well and I pass the drug screening, medical checks and driving tests, then I can expect to be at work again by Monday the ninth. YAY! Of course, I have been to Dallas many times. But the skyline still is one of my favorites. It's distinctive and colorful. It doesn't look cluttered. The traffic is another story but what big city doesn't have THAT problem? I know a few side roads that can take to get where I am going that avoid the major trouble spots. I plan to be there for two or three days as I have a lot of paperwork to go through, interviews and tests. Plus a friend in Ft Worth with whom I plan to have brunch on Tuesday. If this comes through, I will be moving up to Dallas area (a 600 mile commute will KILL me!) in short order. One stipulation is that I must live within 50 miles of the location. I have a friend who lives there and will let me live in his mailbox for a while, until I get my own place. But $1000 a week net will enable that within two months. My wife is already spending that paycheck on a new bedroom set that comes with a $5000 price tag! :speechls: |
That sounds like a great move Brian.
Maybe you can bring Cloud with you. |
Wouldn't it be better to find a new place, and then buy new bedroom furniture? You know, saving moving costs, wear & tear, and the furniture dictating where you can live? :haha:

Congratulations Brian :thumb:

Sounds like a nice move!
|
Bruce, how dare you apply logic where women and shopping are concerned!
She wants to buy it and have it shipped to the new place. |
My bad, I'm so ashamed. :o
|
Best of luck, Brian!
|
Yeh - good luck. Odds are that whatever damage comes from shipping will most certainly be your fault anyway.
Good luck with the job too! |
The job is not in the bag yet! I passed the physicals and oral interview. Now I have to wade through the 1/2" think application and pass the pre-trip inspection and driving test, which will run about an hour plus paperwork time. Then they are talking about having me take the Smith System course (for the sixth time yet!) tomorrow so they can get me paid for the time and be sure I have been trained recently. And of course I was just through the course less than six months ago but didn't think to bring the certificate with me, and even then, that might not rescue me from having to stay awake through another four hour lecture about maintaining a space cushion and not running other cars over. Sigh. Another day at this crummy Super 8 motel.
It's all for the greater good, I keep telling myself that. And I keep looking at that airplane I want to buy. That too! |
As of now, it's in the bag.
I start Sunday, running local pickups at the postal center(s) to find out where they are and reading all the handbooks and such. This is really a good move for me, even though I now have to move to Dallas vicinity. My wife is having fun reading every real estate ad on the internet... |
Congratulations!
|
Awesome!
Then again, does this mean you're gonna be a Cowboys fan? |
Congrats Brian! Good work!
