GM, church team up to convert sales

Quote:

In what organizers said was the first event of its kind in the area, Hartford Memorial Baptist Church in Detroit teamed up Sunday with GM and the GM Minority Dealers Association to offer churchgoers a chance to test drive more than a dozen cars.
As congregants left the northwest side church at 1 p.m., Pastor Charles Adams said the idea of Ride and Drive was to demonstrate GM's commitment to minority causes, its employment of thousands of local African Americans and to encourage churchgoers to buy a new GM car.
"Americans now must support American-made products," Adams said outside the church with Detroit Mayor Dave Bing, a longtime member. "We are encouraging our church members to take care of their community by buying locally. This is an ethical purpose that is beyond profit."
After a cruise in a shiny maroon 2010 Chevy Camaro, Indira Murray was all smiles.
"It's a beautiful car," the 38-year-old Detroit resident said. "I love it. When I get a job, I might get one."

"Here's a way for people to experience the GM product without worrying about pushy dealers," Perkins said
Uh, n0 not really - The pushy dealers are now right outside your church?

Why no Chryslers or Fords? Organizers said it was GM's idea.

There some innovation for ya tw. At least in a marketing sense.

Sounds like someone needs to make a whip and start turning tables over.

I'm glad it was a Baptist church and not a Catholic Church...some of those GMs have really big back seats and good window tinting.

Haggis
And the optional condom dispenser wouldn't be allowed in the "Lamb of God" edition of the Escalade.

Gives new meaning to "push, pull, or drag."

how does this help the minorities exactly?

did the minorities not know where to find the GM dealers in Detroit?..... or did they not have bus fare to get to the dealer to buy a car?

this sounds like parading exotic dancers through the halls of a prison to me.

'when I get a job, I might get one?' ok...now get back in your '83 Sunbird that you share with your sister and try not to think about that shiny new Camaro.....

christ....

Come on, people, God has always been cool with cars, ever since Moses burned up the desert in his triumph.

Thats what the Pastor said.

That's why I quoted him.

I was just attributing that quote to him. Some readers may not have know from where the quote came.
