How long before ham goes bad?
The soup thread has reminded me that I was going to use leftover ham to make bean soup. However, I had forgotten about it for so long Im wondering if the ham is still good to use. Besides smell, is there any other way I can be sure it is still ok? (BTW - Its been in a baggie since Christmas....)

Since xmas?! My vote is for chucking it.
|
when in doubt, throw it out.
|
Aw...shit.
|
frozen or in the fridge? Cooked or not?
|
Cooked..in the fridge. I haven't smelled it yet...just a tad reluctant too. But I was just wondering when i get around to doing that, and it still smells fine, what then?
wishful thinking... |
Manky ham goes crystally, but I wouldn't be touching it this long after Xmas.
|
This is February. Toss it.

Fridge???????????? Goodbye.
|
OK. :bigpout:
I could kick myself for waiting so long. |
5 days is my maximum for well cooked meat. 2 or 3 for rare meat or fish. I don't think I'd eat month old frozen ham much less that shit.
|
good grief, you're worse than us! toss it out. ugh.

Three days ! One day for fish or seafood or a week for those packaged deli slices like turkey. |
Maybe should be "how long has this ham been bad?"
