Well, one can hope. After all, this is still just Axl with a backing band, right?
|
Who the hell is this Buckethead character? Anyone heard any of his solo stuff?
And from what I've read around, they (meaning "he") have been pushing the release date for the "new album" further and further back. Some people are skeptical if there really exists any material for a new album, though they have been recording. Seen the new look on Axl lately? I thought he looked a bit like he had plastic surgery. |
Guns 'n' Roses never technically split up; they've been working on Chinese Democracy for more than half a decade now. Essentially, Axl's been sitting in a studio with an ever-changing lineup of musicians. Slash, Duff, and Stradlin all left, with Stradlin saying he wanted to be part of a "real band" at one point. (performing, presumably). The CD release date has been pushed back a couple of times since about 1998; there is apparently a lot of music recorded, but the exact track listing and mixing is not decided on.
Right now, the GnR lineup is: Dizzy Reed (keyboards) Chris Pitman (keyboards) Brain (drums) Buckethead N' Robin (guitar) Tommy Stinson (bass) Richard Fortus (guitar) W. Axl Rose (vocals) Regarding Buckethead (who's from Marrietta, Georgia), he seems to be a fairly young guitarist with a number of accomplishments to his name. He's part of the Deli Creeps, Cornbugs, Praxis, Cobra Strike, Primus (at Ozzfest 1999 and touring afterwards), and now Guns 'n' Roses. His actual name isn't widely known, but assumed to be Brian Carroll. He's also been known as Death Cube K, and occasionally plays bass. Judging by his live performance at the VMAs2k, his sheer technical skill may excel that of any previous GnR guitarists. (considering his flawless solo between the 6-8minute marks) GnR's current style seems to be moving towards power rock with some industrial and drum 'n' bass influences. (see also The Fallen soundtrack, the current track Madagascar, etc). X. |
What's a good song to hear Buckethead's ability?
