What Christmas gift disappointed you/pissed you off the most?

The parents got me a 12.2 megapixel Kodak point-and-shoot for Xmas. Opened it up, and started to charge the battery. Get this: The power adapter is two separate pieces you have to assemble when you want to charge the battery. The USB cable for transferring pix to your computer plugs into the bottom of the power adapter, I guess they save money by not needing two cables, one for power, one for pic transferring. The prongs that plug into the wall slide down into the adapter, presumably so you can just insert a Euro-plug and go about your merry way. Never seen an adapter like this before. Yeah, it don't work. At all. Picked it up to examine it, it fell apart in my hands. I love Christmas.

A mug of hot chocolate mix, complete with marshmallows.

Chocolate does NOT agree with me.

We got Minifob a "rocket balloon" set, with long, sturdy balloons and a hand pump to fill them up and then let them go flying around the room.

The pump is a piece of crap. Does not work, plain and simple. Seems to be missing the whole gasket inside, just one piece of plastic sliding inside another. We're holding onto the balloons in the hopes that we can find another pump.

Anything at all, from a certain person who hit us up the next day for a $400 loan.

If you need to borrow money, why buy Christmas gifts? Particularly for the person you're borrowing from?

Oh. AND, the WOW expansion "Burning Crusade" we bought our son. Either I am too stupid to figure out how to install it properly, or someone has already used the authentication key and it won't work.

There are occasional problems with authentication keys. Worth phoning their customer service department (they're usually pretty good about stuff like this in my experience); or just take it back to the shop you bought it from.

Boots...that I didn't get (yet).

Bought off Ebay, shipped from China, 7 business days shipping. Expensive shipping, too!!! Not here yet. My spouse is bummed.

only non-grownups receive gifts in my world, apparently. That includes the 30 something children.

I'm not sure this is going to make sense, but...can I comment on a gift that I am enormously pleased with, but still kinda wonky about?

Selene got me a 32" HD LCD TV for my bedroom. Now, I've been wanting one for some time. We watch a lot of movies at my place, and sometimes we like to watch them comfortably in bed. When home, especially with the women in school, I spend a lot of time in my room watching my own favorite stuff while surfing on the computer. So an HD TV in my man cave has been a dream of mine for awhile.

But...as recently as a week ago, I told her to simply skip buying me any gift. We really couldn't afford it, and I really have all the toys any sane white man should need. But she loves me, and so she brought it in as the last major gift of the night at our family Yule.

Do I deserve it? Well, yes, I do. I work hard at a shit job all year long, paying a huge chunk of our household expenses and carrying insurance for both of us. I singlehandedly take care of most of the housecleaning and dish-doing. I clean up all the pet whoopsies. In short, I fucking rock. But I'm also rather practical.

So...to summarize (and thanks for bearing with me), I would have been happy had she stopped with the nice new flannel sheet set, had she stopped with the fun t-shirts she got me...I would have been *fine*.

This is touchy. I don't receive gifts well to begin with, because I always figure I'm putting someone out. Just because I say here that I rock does not mean that this is how I feel inside when someone is generous towards me. Especially if I think that the money could have been better spent.

So, in conclusion...I fuckin' love my new TV, and I think I'm gonna rent a porno for Selene and I to watch on it later this week in my bed on my new sheets and under my new comforter from TF. :D

Thanks for letting me rant.

I am pissed off about a gift I haven't got, I don't know what it is, and I don't care. What pisses off is that I should have gotten in Christmas morning. The gift is from my nanny (g-ma to some). Why didn't I get it? Because she decided her Christmas morning was better spent over with my aunt's family rather than mine. Sure she had gotten stuck over there the night before due to snow and ice, but she could have driven home the next morning, easily. My mom even called and asked her to come over, we moved our gathering back an hour so that the roads would be plenty clear. My mom explained clearly to her that Christmas would be the only day our side of the family would be able to all get together. Did she come? No.
I saw her later in the day at the extended family gathering, we all brought our gifts to her and gave 'em over. Its just not the same, not nearly as close family-ish. Oh, and she had the nerve to say "I feel bad I can't give y'all your gifts now." Really, you do? You're a few hours too late for that. I guess my aunt's family is just more important than us, I mean they are the one's with all the drama and drugs. Oh, and they're the side who always begs her for money because they misspend theirs. I guess if she spent less time with them she would have less to complain to us about.

I think my rant beats yours Elzie...not that its a competition.

I'm happy with all my gifts this year. Nothing extravagant. But everything was nice. An excellent Christmas all around.

The only thing that I could possibly complain about is that an uncle gave the kids a small aquarium. After our cat died a few years ago, we decided we would be a no pets household. So I hid the thing in the basement after the kids opened it and they were busy playing with other presents. If they notice and ask about it, I'll tell them that we don't do pets in our house. But it would have been easier if this uncle hadn't pushed pets on us for Christmas. He meant well.
