09/27/02: My Street
http://comp.uark.edu/~dmorton/images/misc/sycamore.jpg
This is the street I live on. Every time I look at it, I think of you, Sycamore. Isn't that sweet? |
That could be cropped into a really cool banner for The Sycamore Manifestos blogview. ;)
Maybe even a name change to Sycamore St. :) Gotta luv the stop lights. |

You lucky bastard!
Every time I see a Sycamore St., I think about how cool it would be to live on one...unless of course, it's in a shitty neighborhood. We have 2 Sycamore street names in the city. One is in the Olney section of North Philadelphia...Sycamore Street. Olney is ummm...earthy. Could be better, could be worse. I'll pass. Then there is Sycamore Drive, which is not too far away from me, in the Holmesburg section of NE Philadelphia. Holmesburg is alright, but parts of it are starting to get shitty. Sycamore Dr. is in a subdivision that consists of really fucked-up looking homes. They're not run down or anything...they're quite nice actually. But they look like trailer park homes...they don't seem to blend in with the rest of the neighborhood. Of course, one of these days, when you go to St. Louis, you will travel along Sycamore Drive, and maybe go for a picnic at Sycamore Park. And don't forget to visit the Sycamore statue that sits at the entrance to Sycamore Park. :) The spot in bright red on the map is where my park will be. The street labeled "Germania St." is what will become Sycamore Drive. |
I just reposted my previous post, as I added the little green circle around one of the streets on the map.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised, b/c I would imagine that mapmaking is difficult work at times. But that little street I circled caught my eye, b/c I suspected that it was wrong. Sure enough...they list it as Louis Street. Louis doesn't go over to that part of the subdivision...what they have listed as a street is just a plain ol' alley with no name. What a bunch of crackheads at Mapquest. :) |
