Nov 23, 2009: Recortadores
Running with the bulls is foolhardy, fighting the bulls is even more so, but these bull jumpers are just crazy. :haha:

I'll pass, too Bruce. I don't even think I'd enjoy watching it. I've always wondered why the animal rights activists tend to ignore these bull related activities. Not that I think they should raise hell about it. Just sayin.

Takes 10 seconds to find it: http://www.peta.org/mc/factsheet_display.asp?ID=64 That's just PETA. I've heard opposition to it for years. |

The only good thing about these kinds of 'sports' is when the bull gets a good one in and impale or gore some dumbass. Darwinism at its finest. Best when vital organs are pierced.

Unlike bullfighting, at least the bulls have an even shot in this game. |
I know they're against it. (I found it in 5 seconds), but they don't seem to raise as much hell about it as they do other things. That was my point. I think the reason is that the Spaniards tell them quickly where they can shove it. I got quite a chuckle at some of their posts at the bottom of the link page. They basically tell folks if you can't handle these types of events, just stay the hell out of Spain LOL.

I guess you pay less attention that I do. I've heard of big outcries against bullfighting. I agree that it is cruelty. Are you for dog fighting and chicken fighting? Do you think that should be legal here in the US?
If you do, then I know why you think its ridiculous to be against bullfighting. If you don't, then there is no reason why you should support it. (I am not speaking about the recortadores - i would consider it kinda mean, but its not on the same level as cruel.) |

I find the word, "recortador" interesting in this context. I think it means "well cut" or "a well cut person."
If they're doing it right (by clearing the horns), they wouldn't be cut at all. |
I was going to just look and listen, but followed the PETA link which discusses only traditional bullfighting, OT really.
Then I figured these bulls may be the same ones later killed. But best, I found a Spanish Wikipedia artcle which in English translation provides this great definition of Trimming: "Dribble the bull by the andarle face and avoid the fuck." I should think so. http://translate.google.com/translat...N%26start%3D10 |
I have no problem with bull jumping, rodeo riding or Portugese style bull fighting where the bull is not killed, becaue the main risk is to the human.
I do object to Spanish style bull fighting where the bull is slowly and painfully killed. |
