Border Patrol Agent Killed

A group of illegal aliens have killed a border patrol agent. I wonder when they are going to address the issues to get this illegal immigration under control. Maybe when we start to register them for free health care under Obama Care. Who knows. Something needs to be done to stem the tide.

U.S. Border Patrol agent Robert Rosas was shot and killed Thursday night while tracking a group of people presumed to have crossed into the country illegally. Investigators said they didn't know how many people shot at Rosas, or whether the agent was able to return fire.

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said she has directed the full resources of the department to investigate the attack and bring the killer or killers to justice.

The latest shooting happened at almost the same spot where gunfire was exchanged nearly one week ago between U.S. Border Patrol agents and occupants of a Dodge truck that may have been used to smuggle narcotics into the United States, Mexican authorities said.

News reports state that Mexican authorities say they have caught 4 men, but this does not address the larger issue of illegal immigration.

This is not a new trick, but it feels different than usual.

The usual MO is to murder a BP officer about 100 miles from your intended crossing point, wait for all the rest to head out there to back up his partner, then cross safely.

Sounds to me like the coyotes are getting bolder.

I'm inclined to believe BrianR's reading of the situation: drug smuggling.

In that case, the problem isn't illegal immigration. If it were simply immigration we could open the borders and solve the problem immediately.

Even if it weren't a smuggling related killing, opening the borders would obviate the need to shoot at law enforcement officers in order to cross into the US.

Seems win-win to me.

Yeah, I'm dreaming. Just like I'm living in a dream world when I imagine the abolition of the minimum wage.

Why would you want to abolish the minimum wage?

The minimum wage results increases inefficiency in labor markets. Raising the minimum wage further puts more people out of work.

We need to bring our Marines home from overseas and let them start shooting down everybody that dares to cross illegally without exception. In a few days, the problem would be in check. You can't use pussy ass diplomacy when dealing with murderous thugs.

The same reason as outlawing free education. People just don't deserve it. Bring back the slums!

That raises another one of my pet peeves. Regulation and standardization in education, even education not funded by taxes. Parents in the USA can't educate their children in many places because of arbitrary restrictions. They have to send their children to tax-funded schools that serve up mostly nonsense and high fructose corn syrup. Insanity.

By the way, nothing is free as in beer. Ever. Somebody pays for it at some point. That said, I'm happy to pay taxes to fund education, public health and safety, as long as it's well spent. That means I should be able to allocate my share of taxes to the programs that I believe in.

Anyway, that's enough thread-jacking for one day... My apologies for the inconwenience. I shall now go roast my tesiculos over a grande fuego.

Ok, so let's mine the borders.
