Show us your Wedding Tackle

ok, no, not that wedding tackle....

but if you're significantly involved with another to the point that you plan to be together forever and you've exchanged jewelery or contracts or something other than bodily fluids to demonstrate that, please share. and if it's non-traditional and you want to share the story, we're all agog..... (and we'll take traditional stories too.... ;) )

My story's really boring, but hey, all y'all'll look good in comparison....

Generaly I tend to opt for the non-traditional route, but occasionally I like to "conform", if only for the shock value. so I present you with my wedding and engagement ring..... I posed especially....

(I must mention that I was miffed because in the UK there was no tax on Children's jewelry at the time. My fingers are so thin, I had to have them size the rings down to children's size. They got to keep the gold they took out and yet still insisted on the tax. (sizing up is free ....) bastards!

now show me yours..... (and any relevant stories you care to share....)

We had the rings specially made byt a local jeweller here on our island. The design is based on a silver ring I already owned which Best Beloved liked the look of. They contain the gold from my great-grandmother's wedding ring. The little diamond in each ring was a detail I liked from my best friend's wedding ring.
The other ring I'm wearing was made by the same jeweller - I like her stuff!

If I got a ring, it would be a fairly plain thing. Titanium band with a black band insert. Kind of thick.

The girl has talked about something with a black pearl and white gold.

I'm not really a jewelry/jewellery person, but those are beautiful, ladies :)

The wedding bands are custom made [not as expensive as one might think]and they are what is known as soul catchers. Native American shaman or medicine men wore them while treating their patients to keep their souls safe.
The engagement ring was bought in St Thomas it is not perfect just ostentatious!;)

My, what a big ring you have, Jim...

(at least, I presume the big one is Jim's ring!)

So it turns out getting a picture of my wedding ring is harder than I thought it would be.

Wedding ring is a solid platinum band, and the engagement ring is a platinum band + diamond. Kitsune's wedding ring is a solid platinum band, as well.

Not much of an interesting story behind them, except that it was surprisingly difficult to find plain ol' platinum wedding bands. The jewellers kept trying to sell us on engraving or extra diamonds stuck in. As if we didn't know exactly what we wanted.

I wear mine all the time. It's getting a little scuffed up.

lumberjim 03-16-2009 05:24 PM

that's a great picture, glatt. you could have combed your hair though....sheesh

monster 03-16-2009 08:47 PM

heh, mine's all scuffed too...and i've had the claws on the engagement ring fixed three times. the last time the fix cost more than the ring....

(excellent pic)
