The New Thread-a-thon PLedge Drive

The politicos are taking over the cellar. It is becoming a political forum.

We must pull together and stem the tide, people!

This is a call to action!
I need you to dig deep into the creative savings account you've been hoarding and withdraw as much new and interesting shit you can find there....and post new threads!

This thread is about your pledges. I need you to promise me some performance here. Can you give us 2 new threads this week? Maybe even one a day!?!?11

You know, you can feed an entire family of mothers that died on 9/11 at the WTC for just 2 threads a week!

need ideas? search google for them! steal them from other forums! don't bother searching to see if there is already a thread about it on the cellar! THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!

Operators are standing by to read your replies to this thread. DIG DEEP FOLKS, ONLY YOU CAN SAVE THE CELLAR!!

Hurry up and finish your begging so we can get back to the Yanny performance, dammit!

Jim, You are seriously underemployed at CHN. Squirrels before Pine or however the saying goes.

I'll dig.

I'm off today! but I have been monitoring you much more closely of late, it's true. And I find you lacking, sir. You of all people have been lax in silly thread starting these last few weeks.

how much can I put you down for? 4 threads this week? 5? pace yourself...the daylight savings time thread drive begins sunday.

Sundae 03-04-2009 01:49 PM

Can we have some non-political interseting ones rather than silly ones?
Silly ones only get really interesting through thread drift.

My healthy eating consultant (yawn) has set me "homework" this fortnight. Keep a food diary, paint my toenails - no, really - and eat two pieces of fruit a day.

My counsellor wants me to think of possible careers I could train for as a way of turning my sick leave and absence from the workplce into a learning opportunity. And I have to come up with at least one idea by next Tuesday.

And now you want me to start two threads a week.

Jeez. I'm not sure I can deal with this amount of pressure.

It's true, I have been spending responsible amounts of time on my new website and blog. I will have an extra glass of wine and think of a few threads.

I was thinking about an anonymous "Let's whine about our spouses and take other dwellars moral inventories." for starters. Might be entertaining.

The Cellar is not a forum, there are 15 forums in the Cellar, plus IOtD, Quality Images and Meta.
Just because the posters in the politics forum are more active, doesn't mean they are taking over the Cellar.
And maybe they wouldn't be so active in the Politics forum if they had more nudity and dirty jokes to distract them.

Sunday Girl has given us a great tour of Aylesbury, England which has attracted some new nostalgic members.
Clodfobble has provided, and drawn from posters, a lot of information on dealing with hyperactive children.
chrisinhouston and Dana have given us a new appreciation of parents.

The Cellar lives as long people are sharing their interests, observations, and lives.

Protip: if you use the New Posts button, it's easy to get into the habit of not following threads that don't matter to you. Threads you don't follow wind up in the "not been updated since your last visit but still contain unread posts" section, but that just reminds you that you aren't reading them.

Can you start a thread on each of your homework topics and we'll all join in?

That's the way I've always worked it (it's good to know that I've not been honing my pro tips here in teh Cellar in vain ... )

Maybe if those of you who like posting in other threads besides politics etc, spent more time posting on threads instead of slothing about in chat all the time you'd have yourselves a greater presence on the board.

Besides, politics and current events are only two of the forums. Most of us who post in those two also post in most of the other forums too. Maybe it's not the content you're bothered about but the posters.

HungLikeJesus 03-04-2009 04:59 PM

There are 18,535 threads in the Cellar. Why could we possibly need any more, when we're not using most of the ones that we have? And besides, it's a beautiful day. Go outside and play.

Aliantha 03-04-2009 05:01 PM

I'm not allowed!

If you look at the "I am..." thread, you'll know why.

HungLikeJesus 03-04-2009 05:08 PM

I don't go in the Health forum - I'm afraid I'll catch something. I hope it's nothing serious, Ali.

Aliantha 03-04-2009 05:14 PM

lol...well I don't think what I've got is catching, and no, everything will be fine. I'm just confined to the house for the next couple of weeks more or less.

This could be one of the reasons why I've been posting so much lately...in those horrible politics and current events threads. ;)
