why am I being logged out
It seems like every time I go away for a few minutes or go to another site and come back, I have to log back in. Why am I kicked off the board? Does this happen to everyone, and is there a way to stop this effect? Thanks!

Give UT more money.

I get kicked off after following most links to other threads. Then just logging back in doesn't work until I close the browser and start over.

Turn cookies on.

Also, click "Remember Me" when you login.
|
Also, make sure you clear the cache. Tools -> Clear Private Data (in Firefox)
Uncheck everything except Cache. Then do what the other people said. :) |
Cellar's jealous of the other sites. Moody, she is.

Only solution that works? Close all Browser windows and go away for something exceeding 15 minutes. Don't really know how long this timeout takes although it could be over an hour (and browser windows can be used for that time). Only then will Cellar 'cure' itself; permit logins again and magically 'Remember Me'. |
That's a session timeout, 15 minutes of Cellar inactivity...

I think some of this happens because the system still thinks there is a difference between cellar.org and www.cellar.org. During the next few weeks we will be having a software version upgrade, and at that time, I'll force all www.cellar.org usage to just go to plain old cellar.org. There won't be a www version any longer.
So if you use the www version, you might like to now log out, go to cellar.org without the www, and log in. That will set your cookies AND your session correctly. Otherwise just wait a few weeks and then you'll be forced to log in with the new software version. |
The random thread picker will need a minor adjustment, I think.
