Does anyone feel like Baking?

I'm not up to my normal holiday activities... chest cold has me incapacitated...

anyone want to come over and bake 12 batches of ginger bread cookies, 6 batches of snicker doodles, a chocolate yule log, some candied pecans and the dinner while your at it??? I want to go back to sleep.

HungLikeJesus 12-22-2008 09:36 AM

I thought you had a little elf who could help you with that.

Pooka 12-22-2008 09:49 AM

LOL... in theory.... she is 2... her help would require more work on my part than if I just did it myself...

I'm baking cookies (sugar and c.c.) and ....that's about it.

What do you usually bake, Pooka?

It is a real thread cleaverly disguised as a clone thread... you likey?

I bake pumpkin bread, gingerbread, gingerbread men, sugar cookies, espresso and marmalade cookies, pumpkin/ pecan and buttermilk pies, I generally also make tamales, jalapeno jelly and cheese balls.

I'm just doing the cookies this year

That would be my little "helper elf"

I'm more of a cake baker than cookies... but I haven't done any in a long time. (During her first pregnancy, homemade pound cake was one of the few things Mrs. Dallas could eat.)

I'm gonna do a swedish rye, a linzer torte, (we have real lingon berries), and an onion herb bread. Maybe some savory cheddar muffins. The breads are going in our new community wood fired oven.

wow, those are shitty resizes. I'll redo them later.

glatt 12-22-2008 01:54 PM

but they are nice and small files, and you can see what's going on in them, even if they do look a little rough.

Wow... not only duper yummy, but super cool Footsie...

What type of community might that be? Looks really amazing!

A bunch of old hippies who know the whole point of smoking dope is to INHALE. And the birthplace of "Pie a la Mode"

Actually we live in an awesome village, there is a blog about it.
It is (aptly named, no doubt) http://cambridgebuzz.blogspot.com

Awesome! How very cool! I would totally love living there! Throw in a slice of cheddar on that Pie a la Mode and you've got me!

Does it make me a bad person that when I look at that wonderful picture of small child with cookier cutter, part of me goes "awwww that's adorable" and another part of me thinks, "No way am i eating that gingerbread man...."

It used to take a herculean effort on my part to force down the crispie cakes, or fairy buns my darling nieces would hand me when they were little. Proud as punch they'd hand me what can only be described as mutilated biscuit creatures with suspiciously thumbprint-like icing smears, and I would try not to think about what I'd seen those chubby little hands doing ten minutes prior.
