Nietzsche's Still Pietzche, Urbane's Urbane

This may end up moved to Entertainment, as it is the opposite of weighty.

Quote:

". . .when you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you." -Friedrich Nietzsche
-- Beyond Good and Evil Aphorism 146
You should begin to worry when you can see the abyss is making faces at you.

Yeah, but you can always tell it, if the wind changes, it'll stay like that.

Urbane Guerrilla 11-28-2008 02:35 PM

And while you're discussing the matter, everyone else on the sidewalk moves away from you...

Yea, I have had that one as a sig line for a while. I think it sends a cautious note.

lol!

Urbane Guerrilla 12-09-2008 01:31 AM

Gee, Jim, he doesn't look surly on either side. Fun!

Now, if the Abyss is clearly using its reflection in your pupils to check for and squeeze blackheads, the Abyss is taking you entirely too much for granted.

And only on the Discworld would this be a serious conversation. Anyone not transported from there, and taking this seriously... deserves to.

ZenGum 12-09-2008 01:39 AM

If you were staring into the abyss and saw that it had some spinach caught in its teeth, would you tell it?

DanaC 12-09-2008 08:54 AM

More to the point, were the situation to be reversed, would it tell you?

@ UG, I think that's probably my favourite thread title evah:P

Urbane Guerrilla 12-10-2008 01:14 AM

Why, thanks! <blows kiss>

If you're gazing long into the Abyss... you might be an amateur astronomer with a big ol' Dobsonian mount reflector 'scope. Not too hard to look 2.3 mega-years straight back if Andromeda's risen.
