What a load of old rubbish.

"There's only one thing different about Barack Obama when it comes to being a Democratic presidential candidate. He's half African-American," Nader said.
How's that for accuracy? The man is half African by birth, wholly American by background and as for acting or speaking white... what? He was raised by a white family, he is as white as he is black. Why on earth shouldn't he sound like his mother rather than his father?

Anyway, if he wanted to emulate his father, he'd be in Africa now having abandoned his daughters, speaking Swahili. Not listening to rap and wearing baggy pants in da hood.

Nader needs to realize that if Obama didn't "act white", he would have no chance of winning the election. Look how the public took Reverend Wright.

TheMercenary 11-05-2008 09:44 AM

I don't think Obama "acts white". He acts like Obama. But what he does not do is buy into the idea that to be a known as a black man he needs to play into a sterotype of eubonics and playing a race card to get ahead. He may have done so in the past but at this point in time I am going to give him a chance to maintain a sense of honor and decorum on the office and the responsibility he is about to take.

I don't know if playing the race card would be considered acting black, but putting black interests ahead of white interests. If Obama focused more on black interests, there is no way in hell he would have gotten elected.

Obama made his campaign on helping the middle class not the lower class. There are many other reasons as well that point that his target audience are middle class whites.

Not that its bad thing...just that he knew the only way he could be elected was by doing such.

I am trying real hard not to read racism in your comments but I have to ask, do you think all black people are lower class?
