Music Trivia
The original name for Abba was Abacus, but they were threatened with legal action when another group claimed the rights to that name; an incident referenced in the lyrics to their hit single Tänk Om Jorden Vore Ung.
It's amazing what you can learn in Uncle John's Bathroom Reader. |
I was oblivious to the fact that on Neil Young's tune "Old Man", Linda Ronstadt did backing vocals, and James Taylor did banjo.
And Richard Marx did backing vocals on Lionel Ritchie's "All Night Long"... |
George Harrison played bass on "Birthday".
John Lennon played bass on "Hey Jude". Paul McCartney played drums on "Dear Prudence", drums and lead guitar on "Ticket to Ride". Except for a short period when they were credited "Bjorn and Benny", ABBA has always gone by the name ABBA. Paul plays just about everything on "Why Don't We Do It In the Road". Paul and John did the solos on "And Your Bird Can Sing". George Harrison sang background vox on James Taylor's "Carolina on my Mind". |
My mother kissed George Clinton after the 1994 Lollapalooza here in Pittsburgh.
My folks were hanging out at a bar near the Post-Gazette Pavilion, and they apparently hung out and drank and such. They come home all tipsy and mom said, "ahaha I kissed a black guy!" (noteworthy to mention, race aside, my mom isn't the drink & smooch kinda gal) I said, "Umm..okay. What did he look like, did you know him?" She said he had all kinds of dreadlocks and a big gray beard and all kinds of colors in his hair. I then noted where they were, what time it was, and the fact that that night was Lollapalooza. I said, "Mom...you kissed George Clinton. He's pretty famous." Ah well. She didn't know. |
