I have no idea if darlet #1 (16 yr. old female) is a trend-setter, but she has declared a new favorite store. "Cute stuff. Inexpensive." Guess where. I was dumbfounded.

Psst. It was Sears.

WTF? Are you serious? How did they pull that off?

xoxoxoBruce 08-01-2008 10:45 AM

Upscale Kmart. ;)

Juniper 08-01-2008 10:49 AM

May have had something to do with that "inexpensive" part. Is she using her own money now? ;)

My DD is still generally sponging off us parents...thus she prefers Abercrombie and Forever 21. Not that we ever GO there, mind you, much to her dismay.

Yes,,,Sears has some nice music shirts and very cool jeans for the juniors these days.

no not Kmart! More like Khols, Mervins, Upscale Target. You're not a clothes shopper are ya? :)

Juniper 08-01-2008 11:00 AM

But Kmart owns Sears. Or maybe it's the other way around. That's probably what he means.

xoxoxoBruce 08-01-2008 11:08 AM

Exactly, thank you.

Mostly. We give the darlets a budget at the beginning of the school year, but will sometimes help them with necessary items later on. Both are frugal shoppers.

We recently had a similar experience. I had figured Sears was over.

Since they teamed up with Land's End, they got a new lease on life.

Oh man, this was one of the best things my mom ever did for me. She gave me a montly clothing budget, and we never had to go shopping together again. So much better for both of us. Plus, she attached it to her credit card but in my name, so I was building my own credit while the bills still went to her and she could make sure I was spending it in the right places.

Yeah, but now I can't stand land's end. Quality has gone out the window.
